AAOMS and more than 40 other medical and dental provider groups support the Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act (S 704/HR 1202) as one of many solutions that would provide relief to student loan borrowers. The REDI Act would prevent the federal government from charging interest on the federal student loans of medical and dental residents while their loans are in deferment. The REDI Act does not provide loan forgiveness or reduce a borrower’s original balance.
Nearly 1,000 letters have been sent to the Hill thus far. Join your colleagues by contacting your members of Congress to urge them to support the REDI Act.
