Senate holds hearing on dental access and affordability

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee held on May 16 a hearing titled, “Examining the Dental Care Crisis in America: How Can We Make Dental Care More Affordable and More Available?” AAOMS submitted written comments. Senate HELP Committee Chair Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) at the hearing unveiled the Comprehensive Dental Reform Act of 2024 (S 4537), which, among other provisions, seeks to expand comprehensive dental coverage to all Medicare, Medicaid, and VA beneficiaries. The bill is not expected to gain traction in the near future.
