Florida set to become second state to ban fluoride

Florida lawmakers approved SB 700, the Florida Farm Bill, which includes a provision prohibiting the use of “certain additives in a water system.” This language would effectively ban the addition of fluoride in public water throughout the state. The bill now awaits Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) signature, and he has indicated his intent to sign it into law. Florida would become the second state this year to enact such a ban, following Utah, where a similar measure took effect earlier this month. The move has sparked concern among public health advocates who argue that fluoride is a critical tool in preventing tooth decay.
