Oral and maxillofacial surgeons (OMSs) receive specialized training beyond dental school to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the head, neck, face, jaws and oral tissues and to administer anesthesia safely in an office setting. AAOMS offers information to support future OMSs as well as assistance for OMS faculty in developing high-quality residency programs to ensure the profession continues to produce excellent practitioners.
